We are thrilled to announce that Zima Homes Kenya has been honored with the Emerging Affordable Housing Developer in Africa Award at the 2024 African Union for Housing Finance (AUHF) Awards. This accolade recognizes our commitment to creating scalable, sustainable, affordable, and gender-inclusive urban housing in emerging markets.

The award was presented by Marja Hoek-Smit, a renowned advocate for affordable housing in emerging markets. We are grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of housing in Africa.

Our Vision and Approach

At Zima Homes, we asked ourselves a critical question: Can urban housing in emerging markets be scalable, sustainable, affordable, and gender-inclusive?

Our answer: Yes! But it requires:

• Rigorous research strategies from day one
• And, of course, a lot of tenacity.

Conference Highlights

In addition to receiving the award, our team was honored to be part of the main plenary at the conference. We had the privilege of speaking on the Sustainable Gender Agenda, sharing tools and lessons learned to enhance gender inclusivity in housing development.

Progress on Our Flagship Project

We’re proud to share updates on our flagship affordable housing project in Nairobi:

• 90% of Phase 1 is complete
• 80% of units are already sold
• The first block welcomed tenants on 1st December 2024.
